SAACKE installs micro-CHP system for Bayernland in Regensburg
Fourteenth project with a micro gas turbine installed in the dairy cooperative’s milk production plant
SAACKE GmbH has now installed a micro combined heat and power installation (CHP) with connected micro gas turbine for the fourteenth time. The order was placed by plant engineer Karl Lausser GmbH, which worked together with SAACKE to upgrade the steam generation in the Regensburg dairy plant operated by the Bayernland dairy cooperative in order to utilize waste heat from the turbine as energy and reduce energy costs.
The SAACKE micro-CHP system consists of a SAACKE DD(Z)G-GTM series industrial burner and a micro gas turbine, which provide thermal energy for a heat generator. The micro gas turbine creates electrical energy for internal use or to be fed into the grid. The direct use of the turbine flue gas as the oxygen carrier for the combustion plant on the heat generator increases the overall efficiency to up to 97%. Flexibility in production also increases, while energy costs fall. The high efficiency ensures that the low-emission system is extremely environmentally friendly. Numerous standard and special fuels can be used for its operation. The micro gas turbine provides electrical output of up to 200 kW. The turbine is characterized by its low maintenance costs and high service life. The extremely efficient SAACKE micro-CHP system can be used with existing and new heat generators, such as steam and hot water boilers, as well as combustion chambers and thermal oil heaters.
Experience for the food industry
The plant engineer Lausser and SAACKE have been working together for many years: the close cooperation was established when installing one of the first SAACKE micro-CHP systems in a new shell steam boiler for the food manufacturer Interquell in Großaitingen. In this case, the focus was on the production of baby foods and cereals. The experience gained from the project could also be utilized for the dairy cooperative’s milk production plant in Regensburg. A special feature of the new order is the combination of a micro gas turbine and a gas motor on the same steam boiler. The SAACKE control system ensures the optimal use of waste heat by the two power generators.
