Warsteiner Brewery relies on SAACKE for boiler house retrofit once again – remote monitoring enables digital service

Task

As part of a planned modernization of its energy supply, the Warsteiner Brewery was looking for a high-performance, low-emission solution for two existing steam boilers. The goal was to continue to reliably ensure the supply of process heat for beer production while strictly complying with legal emission limits. Particular attention was paid to efficient natural gas combustion with an output of 10 MW per boiler and to working in partnership with an experienced supplier.

Solution

Installation of one TEMINOX burner per boiler, including associated gas fittings, spare parts service, and the se@vis compact burner control system designed for digital monitoring.
Three boiler systems generate process heat for beer production at German Warsteiner Brewery. When tendering for the replacement of two of these boilers, Warsteiner focused primarily on two criteria: the technical requirements for compliance with strict statutory emission specifications and reliable and professional service.Due to the long-standing business relationship and the demonstrable services, the brewery relied on SAACKE for this retrofit once again. The two steam boilers, which have since been modernized, are now equipped with latest-generation TEMINOX burners

Unrivalled emissions without secondary measures
Since commissioning, the ultra-low NOx burners in monoblock design have achieved <50 mg/m³ NOx at 3 % O2, without resorting to secondary measures such as flue gas recirculation. This means that the TEMINOX emissions are significantly below the specifications of the German 44th BImSchV (Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act), which came into force in 2019, and occupies an unrivalled leading position on the market in this area.

The SAACKE solution in detail
The commissioning was carried out by SAACKE together with the boiler manufacturer and the plant manufacturer in autumn 2020 and took about one week. The installations are at the highest efficiency level in terms of power consumption and fuel efficiency. In addition, the control system is designed for remote monitoring (remote service). SAACKE is therefore able to provide support via an interface. If necessary, the operating data of the plant can be monitored and preventive burner modifications can be recommended. SAACKE can thus provide quick and costeffective advice via remote diagnosis, which in many cases makes it unnecessary for the maintenance team to travel to the plant.
