METHANOL.
Flexible fuel with clean combustion
Methanol is a promising marine fuel that can be obtained either from natural gas or biogenic raw materials such as biomass. As a liquid alcohol, methanol is easy to store and transport, as it does not require cryogenic technology like LNG. Combustion produces significantly lower emissions of SOx, NOx, and particulate matter, making methanol an attractive solution for more environmentally friendly shipping. The lower energy density and the need for technical adjustments on board require specialists. Nevertheless, methanol is becoming increasingly important – both in ocean-going shipping and on inland waterways. SAACKE offers tailor-made combustion systems for reliable operation with methanol – safe, efficient, and designed for continuous maritime operation. Our customers benefit in particular from our many years of experience with ethanol combustion. This expertise flows directly into the development and implementation of methanol-capable systems. SAACKE is already equipping the first cruise ships and tankers with innovative methanol combustion systems – an important step towards more climate-friendly shipping.
