Air conditioning with the highest environmental standards
The fundamental redesign of the Reichstag building between 1996 and 1999 resulted not only in the symbolic glass dome designed by the architect, Norman Foster. The planning also set technical and ecological standards: The whole energy concept of the historic building was stringently optimized and therefore made very high demands on the building services. In addition to extensive heat insulation, a solar power plant on the roof and the use of the grounds of the building for heat storage, the whole air conditioning system was redesigned.
The SKVJ burns renewable resources
The planners' integrated and sustainable energy concept provided for strict use of renewable energy resources with fossil fuels being used only in an emergency and for ignition. The combustion plant not only has to use biomass fuels with fluctuating viscosity and differing heat values, but also satisfy the highest demands on emissions and the availability of the plant.
The SAACKE solution are two SKVJ which form the heart of the combustion plant. They transform rapeseed oil and biodiesel from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania into heat for the rooms and the service water - and meet the highest demands on environmental protection and reliability.
The benefit for the customer
Burners of the SAACKE SKVJ Series offer a number of benefits:
- The burners are delivered fully assembled and can be commissioned within a minimum of time.
- Even in arduous continuous operation, the burner is uncomplicated and characterized by a stable flame at all firing rates. The construction is based on the proven SAACKE rotary cup atomizer and designed for a very long service life with minimum maintenance.
- The reliable combustion with PME, RME, bio-oils and light fuel oil allows very low emissions to be achieved.
The combustion plant installed in the Deutscher Bundestag shows that firing with biomass fuels functions reliably and thus makes an important contribution to climate protection.
The process in detail
The SKVJ is a proven monoblock burner with a capacity from 0.5 to 8 MW. It is suitable for a very wide range of heat generators and practically all liquid fuels.
This burner operates on the rotary cup atomizer principle in which the fuel is finely dispersed by a rotating cup and then atomized in the air stream of the core air. The SKVJ is thus a specialist for high-viscosity oils, but also functions reliably with light fuel oil. It requires only a low fuel pressure and operates without an atomizing medium.
The combination variant further expands its field of application and burns not only natural gas and propane but also biomass gases cleanly and reliably. The installed plant consists of two boilers which supply both saturated steam and hot water for the Reichstag building and a number of annexes.
