SAACKE awarded for efficiency, emission reductions and safety

SAACKE awarded for efficiency, emission reductions and safety

This October, SAACKE received the 2016 Lord Ezra Award of the British Combustion Engineering Association (CEA). The prize singles out special services in combustion plants, especially in fields such as safety, efficiency, reliability and environmental awareness. The boiler safety test system was commended as part of the SAACKE boiler control DDCC SCanView.

The system ensures the correct sequence of safety tests on the burner and boiler. The automated procedures reduce the risk of human failure and enhance work safety. The prize was bestowed in London in the House of Lords on October 20.

English success story
The boiler safety test system has already been installed in over 500 plants in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The system is integrated in the boiler control and was developed by the British SAACKE subsidiary SAACKE Combustion Services Ltd. Boiler operators can initiate a complete check of all safety-relevant parameters of the entire boiler plant with a just a few clicks. These include daily, weekly and annually prescribed test sequences. The only thing the boiler operator carries out manually on the boiler is the check of the safety valve. As a result, inadequate training or lack of experience can be limited as potential error sources by the system. The results of the tests are saved in a file and can be transferred to another computer.

About the award
By bestowing the prize, the jury of the CEA honored the enhanced safety for overall plant operation and personnel. As an educational institution for the combustion industry, CEA aims to support scientific and engineering progress and distribute it in the industry. The Lord Ezra Award is bestowed annually in the name of the former president of the association, Lord Derek Ezra.
